Headed up there next weekend and taking the boat. Never been up there before. Staying in a cabin close to the state park I believe. Anyone have any tips they could give for this lake? Patterns this time of year for the different species. I don't even know what all species are in the lake.

Can't help you with the lake. I've never fished it. The river in the SP is stocked with trout every two weeks. Throw inline spinners in the fast current areas and you should do well. Just pay attention to the zones. Some are artificial only and barbless hooks. Plus the possession limits are different in some of them.

Lake has every species of black bass, along with a ton of walleye, crappie, catfish, big sandbass, you name it. I'm sure the crappie spawn is just now getting started as deep and clear as that lake is. The walleye bite is supposed to be good through may as well. Spots, smallies, and largemouth are always biting.

Beautiful place. It's worth the trip just for the scenery. Trout fishing below the dam is a hoot!

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

I throw spinners upstream and across the current and then reel back across the current. The current carries the bait down river where the trout are waiting to ambush it. Trout will rarely hit a bait that's moving completely upstream. But if it's moving cross current and downstream they will nail it.

Agree 100% with all that. To add to it you can also throw salmon eggs on a snelled hook (I like #8's or #10's) in current and let it drift down river. Fish every eddy you can find and you will get bit.
