Times have changed. Haven't ordered one in about 8 years. Been buying Demo. boats. It use to be 10%; but they always ask for 20%. All this may have changed. If you are looking at a boat on the showroom floor and there is only a color combo that they don't have they want to close the deal and sign the papers taking position of your trade in right then and order the boat. It takes a great relationship with a dealer to bypass all of this.
These things very from dealer to dealer.

Ok what if you make 10 or 20 percent deposit and dealer goes out of business? Just trying to limit my exposure don't mind a reasonable deposit but 15 20% is unreasonable. Already have credit union finance not trying to buy a boat out of norm. They don't have color or options I want Just thought it would be easier to order just kinda shocked what they wanted so much.

Once you make the order, the dealership can go out of business and your boat is still being built. I think you are sweatin something that is highly unlikely to happen. It, if it did, I'm sure the factory would make the boat and deliver it to a different dealer for you to pick up.

What brand are you looking at that you have concerns about them going under? If it's one of the big brands out there right now I think you are safe.

No I don't think dealer is going out of buisness but you never know these days. Just thought it was a little extreme maybe I was wrong. Called another dealer they asked for less .

Keeps tire kickers from putting them out of business. Ordering a boat then backing out of the deal
