For those that have F150's around 2010, has anybody experienced the notorious hard downshift from 2nd to 1st? After research it seems to be a fairly common problem. Mine has the 6R80 trans. The thing slams from 2nd to 1st. If you had the issue what was the cure? Thanks in advance.

When does it do this? I believe many of the higher speed (6, 8, and now 10 speed) transmissions have problems with this because they cant pick which gear to be in. If it is from a "stop" I suggest coming to a complete stop. My Ram with an 8 speed will try to start in second from rolling and I mean barely rolling stop. If you are easy on the gas it will stay in second but if you get on it at all it will rather aggressively shift to first. Coming to a complete stop makes it go away.

It only does it when you are driving and coming to a stop. So as the truck is slowing, between 2nd and 1st gear is like somebody hit you from behind. It doesn't matter how slow you are coming to a stop, then whamo.

Ah I see, no experience with that, hope you get something figured out.

Has it always done it? May disconnect battery for a while and see if anything changes.

Mine did it the whole time I owned it. I took it back to the dealer several times, with little to no luck stopping it. Drove the truck 145,000 miles before I traded it in and it was never more than an annoyance.
