A High school kid was disqualified from going to the Regionals after THSBA finds out the boat captain actually caught the fish and let the kid weigh it. How do you think this should be handled

Have a friend that's a captain. Told me his kids asked if they could weigh a big fish he caught. My friend thinks this happens some.

This. And the captain shouldn't be back. All of our team members and captains know the rules. I gotta think they did too.

It's also why I feel like the captains shouldn't fish at all.

In the high school events I have attended the boat captain was not even allowed to pick up a rod. He could drive the boat, run the TM and net the fish. That is all.

Dishonest people are going to be dishonest. Allowing the captains to fish or not is not going to stop this from happening. My boys have never asked me for my fish and they never would, because they know the rules and know I will hold them to it. This is just a case of someone who didn't have the kids interest in mind and obviously doesn't respect the other competitors. I would be willing to bet this captain was not a parent of one of the kids.

not creating an opportunity for dishonesty reduces the occurance of it greatly

why are captains fishing? they're catching fish the kids could use in their bags
