Stopped in at the Southside Market in Elgin today and the brisket and sausage was outstanding.

Elgin is straight up barbecue mecca. Pick one, they're all great! Really just personal preference.

Also Luling City Market in Luling, and Franklin's and Mueller's in Austin. I used to have The Salt Lick on this short list, but it seems their quality has gone down a bit since they have grown so much.

The quality must have gone way up in past few years, it was decent, but never great. They got so bad we gave up on them several years ago. Same with Taylor Meat Tip Top brand of meats, some of the best cold cuts around, and the best hot guts anywhere. Now the hot guts are hit and miss, usually miss, and their summer sausage, cervalot, wieners [were the best in Texas],and beef stick are bad. the last beef stick I bought looked like I opened a stick of butter.

I would really like to go to Franklin's but I'm not waiting in line four hours for any BBQ, no matter how good it is.

Love the smoked pork chop at Schoepf's in Belton.

Coopers in Llano & Salt Lick in Driftwood are two of my favorites as well.

The store in Castell is really good the days that Victor cooks. There is always a big crowd on weekends. Great place to hang out.

Coopers is average and way to dang expensive. If you are in llano just keep driving north on 16 and go to the place in Cherokee. Lot better Q and not near as expensive.

Coopers is ridiculous expensive.
Wife and I stopped there and got 1 beef rib each, we split a mac and cheese, which sucked, and a cobbler.
Both had water. Girl rang it up and I'd 47.80!
Had her double check it and she said yep it was right.
No more for me at both Coopers or Hard Eight.

Some of the best ribs I have had I got at Opie's in Spicewood. The brisket and sausage are good but you can't go wrong with their ribs. From what I have hear the guy that started Opies used to be the pit master at Coopers so that may be why Coopers isn't as good as it used to be.

Most definitely, has to be Millers.
And if you are down in the BBQ triangle you need to try Blacks BBQ in Lockhart.

Agree with an earlier poster about waiting in line for Franklins.
And thier Brisket is $22 per pound.

Did not intend to bury this opinion in BKR's post.
