Yes. There are a couple near the kayak launch site. They won't bother you, but when I go there to fish my sail line, I don't take my dog. There are rattlesnakes in that area too, so be real careful at night. Same goes for the Murph Memorial Park down the road.

My wife didn't believe we had gators like that.. I told her to get in the truck and I latched on to our 14 Jon, then we started up the Aransas river,, when she saw them coming off the bank next thing she said was take me home.

More gators than you'd think. We've had a few 3-4 footers swim under our pier near the boat ramp at the Causeway. I've also paddled over a 6 footer in the Aransas River and 10-11 footer in East Pocket of St. Charles.

Yep, there have been gators there as long as I have been fishing there - which is over 50 years now ... and counting.
They have never bothered me, ... and I have never bothered them.

I flounder gig that area and I have seen my fair share of gators. Sometimes I will come up on them and they are just laying on bottom. Not sure how long they can hold their breath for under water, but if I was a wade fisherman that just pulled up and jumped put of the boat to wade, let's just say the water wouldn't be clear any more. Anyways here is one from few months ago while flounder gigging.

I saw a BIG gator that had been hit by a car or truck along Highway 35 on Monday when I was coming home from Port Aransas.

Once I stepped on one. My waders insides were suspicious after that incident :-D
About holding breath -- where do you think they hibernate all winter?
