Any leads/links greatly appreciated.

Thanks

There's a handful that are great on this forum. Look up REDGUN on here. He has several jig heads including what you're looking for....great product, great customer service.

Thanks for the kind words guys.

I do have a mold for the RR head, but can't legally sell them (Blakemoore has a trademark on that style head). I make them for personal use or have to give them away. I like the RR head, but wanted some with the sickle hooks.

The way I understand it, no.

Cash money (even Paypal) can not change hands or seller can get in VERY bad trouble, with Blakemoore.

I have come up with a way to get around this, pm for details. thumb

that head design has been around for a LONG time, seems the patent would be expired by now. names are trademarked.

COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

I looked on ebay they sell pony head jigs and a mold. Evidently the name applies not the style.

I called Blakemoore and asked about this very thing: "other people" are selling roadrunner style heads,... if they can get away with it, can I start selling them??

His response was "Well,...yes,....until we catch up to you".

There are soo many people selling them, it takes a while for their lawyers to find each seller, but eventually they will. He led me to believe (maybe its just a scare tactic??) that it isn't pretty, when they do finally catch up to you. They (Blakemoore) may just want a percentage of the sales, I really don't know. There is just not enough profit, selling jigheads, for me to take any chance of getting into legal issues.

No idea how DO-It was able to legally make the mold, but it is supposed to be for "personal use" only. This includes being able to give them away to friends.

Here is a 10 page post, from another site, discussing this issue. Skip_48, on this site, knows way more about it than I do. With any luck, maybe he will chime in and explain it better.

I bought this mold so I COULD sell heads/spinjigs. Until I put the weedguard in my ponyhead mold, I used these exclusively and really like them.

Here is a post from Skip 48 in 2010:

Possibly some are smart enough not to put pictures on their site that can get them sued big time. Blakemore owns the design trademark on Roadrunner & Pony heads. Anyone selling Pony heads are risking a big problem and if you don't believe me just ask the guy that use to make stump Jumpers to Bass Pro. I still thank him for telling me when I first got some pony heads and was risking this even though I had not idea. He lost everything!

Sooner or later all these post and people selling more and more will bring their attention to this.

Felt the need to say this one more time as a warning and hopefully a help to keep someone from losing everything they have worked for.

Just to show how this kind of thing can be trouble. I had some jigs pictured on my site with school colors and had one with LSU jig and one Auburn Jig and got contacted by a Law firm that represented them and told I was not allowed to do that without permission as it infringed on their trademarks. So infringing on a trademark is a big deal and at some point the roof is going to fall in on some. Believe me I removed any words that called the jig by any school name, LOL!

Skip

Looks like selling them is illegal!

Blakemore has a Configuration Trademark on the horse head design. So I guess it's unique enough they can hold onto it indefinitely.
