Anyone here use the Lucas fuel treatment? I've been using Seafoam but was checking the Lucas out while at Academy today. For about the same price, the Lucas treats a LOT more fuel. Thoughts?

I have seen what seafoam does in my two cycle engines and how it can fix issues, I am impressed with it.

I have not tried Lucas but I run Seafoam every other tank of fuel in my 92 Johnson Fast strike 150. Runs smooth and starts easy. I can tell when I forget to use it, idle gets rough.

See you on the lake and have a great day!

I buy Seafoam by the gallon. Goes in everything I have except my everyday drivers. All my small engines (that's 9 if I count the chainsaw and weedeater), 3 4-wheelers and the EFI Merc..

Advice? Wise men don't need it. Fools won't heed it.

SeaFoam in every other tank on my boat and my tahoe - also use it in my old vette.

Whether you think you can or you can't, you are probably right.

I haven't used Lucas, been a Seafoam guy since I bought my first boat. I add seafoam each time I put fuel in, has worked great for me so no need to try any other products.

Lucas cleans gas and diesel.
Seafoam cleans and helps emulsify water in ethanol in gasoline.

If you're using it strictly for cleaning the engine I have nothing to compare. They should both help.
If you need help with ethanol, Lucas does nothing for it.

Is anyone using sea foam in an Optimax? Is that a no-no?

Yes, yes.

Just don't overdo it. I normally put a can per 20 gallons. I've never had a service light because of it.

Will that Lucas oil they advertise on Bass Shows mess up the warranty on a Yahmaha 225. I was told by my dealer to only use Yamalube oil. It's very expensive. I was told by a fishing buddy that if something goes wrong on the engine then the warranty is not honored as they can test it to see if only Yamalube oil was used? Just wondering while we were talking about gas treatment.

They can't force you to buy their oil. Use of oil that meets or exceeds their minimum requirements is all you should have to use, regardless of brand

Assuming you have a 4 stroke I can help. I would not take a chance on using anything other than what Yamaha recommends, not worth it. I change my oil and filter myself and buy it on Ebay. You can buy an oil change kit which includes 5, not 4 quarts of oil, the filter and the o ring a lot cheaper than you can buy local with free shipping and no taxes. Changing the oil and filter is quite easy. There are several youtube videos showing how and takes less than 15 minutes. Hope this helps.

For "bang for your buck" additive I use startron. It's like 8 or 10 bucks to treat 150 gallons or something like that and I feel like it helps, run that every single tank. Supposed to clean as well as help with ethanol. The other additive I like is Techron, I run that every few tanks. But there is absolutely nothing wrong with seafoam that stuff is tried and true.

Startron has high claims though: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wxA9ZzihnSw
