I'd love to hear more about the tournaments that take place out there weigh ins and winners etc. Surely others on here do also.

Also average Joe fishermen after whites, catfish, bluegill and crappie. Hard to find any info from anyone that fishes this lake.

Until I saw these pictures I didn't even know there were crappie in the lake. I mostly fish for bass out there but the kids have caught catfish, bluegill and a big carp on red worms in some of the coves.

I can't wait to get out there this weekend. Haven't been able to get out there in a couple of weeks. Hopefully the weather cooperates this weekend. It looks hit or miss at the forecast I'm looking at.

Yes sir, even before the drought there wasn't a whole lot. Always thought it was either the clear water made the fishing tough or the lake historically dropping during the spawn and low recruitment. Grandpa would say it's because of fish traps or the dang hybrid stripers! Every time TPWD stocks them, the lake loses its crappie. I don't know. It's a good laugh anyway.

Seen some small carp schooling and busting water sucking some hatch off the surface a few weeks ago. Also seen a bow fishing boat launch at dark. Bow fishing maybe legal, just seems strange to me on public waters. I been mad enough at fish that I would have used a bow, stick, gun or dynamite, but that was when I was younger. taz more of a "kill it you got to cook it" kind of guy now. I caught an 8lb carp on a perch hook and worm a few months back. Bled like crazy in the boat,we weighed it and put it back in the water fast. There has to be some good ones there if you'd try for them.

Planning on doing some crappie fishing in the morning. I'll post a report. fish

Well, boys wanted to spend the day on the water,so we did. Didn't make it out there till 9:30 or so and didn't leave the lake till 8:30pm. Slow fishing for sure, and stayed out even though dark clouds threatened. Caught alot of short bass and 7 keeper crappie. I did have a fat bass that came off my crappie jig that looked 5lbs or bigger but without pictures,it didn't happen. I think she was on her bed. I don't know what was going on yesterday, my trolling motor was acting up,my graph wasn't showing enough details on SI so just used Di and switch fire, and GPS was slow to catch up. All that got me frustrated. Don't tell anyone, kids caught all the fish,I couldnt hardly get hung up on snags either. hmmm maybe the boys cut the barbs off OMG Ah,bad day on the water is still a good day I guess.

Was on the lake yesterday, caught a lot of small blacks up river. Managed to catch 4 white bass trolling small rattle traps way up by the falls. Was chasing crappie, no luck up river. Every fish we caught had empty stomachs, doesn't appear that there is a lot of bait in the lake.

I haven't seen much bait fish in the lake or river either. And what do you mean by "the falls?" Thanks!

Go upriver past Pop's place and the river will take a 90degree right hand turn. About a mile past the right hand turn you start getting real shallow and then you come to a gravel bar which you can't get past right now. That's where the whites go to spawn, clear flowing water with a gravel bottom. Watch the large rocks in the river though, prop eaters.

Yup,not photo shop in pics, rain got close. Pretty dark but boys were catching,so wanted to stay.
What is the rule? 90% of fish live in 10% of the water? I believe it. Crappie were caught Saturday in 34-38' water near the bottom. Also empty stomachs.
I seen classic bait balls up river near Turks with small blacks eating. We caught a few and moved on. Youngest boy had a chartreuse yellow sexy shad that worked pretty good there. Find the bait, you'll find the fish. There's plenty of shad in that lake, just have to find them.
Lebold point/Turks is a good place to fish now. Whites, catfish and crappie are nearby. Find the channel and brush on a shelf near by. Don't overlook the channels in the wide lake area near Turks.
I have a theory about quality bass now, keeping it to myself till I can prove it. May enter a tournament once with the boys soon biker
