Anyone mark bluegills to see if they catch them again? Looks like fin clipping would be the easiest way to do it.

Never thought of it! Catch to many! Side Note: I have caught sunnies with fresh bait worms still in their mouth and also with hooks still in their mouths.

I fish the same places repeatedly. It is river fishing so there is opportunity for fish to leave and be replaced frequently. I've wondered though how long they hang around, and how many I catch again.

That would be interesting to know. I can see catching the same fish over again in a pond or small lake. However in a bigger water body I think they move around a lot.

I use a hole punch to mark them. Super easy and quick to punch a hole in the tail.

Notching is a very valuable tool for the pond owner who manages for fish growth. I have used it for many years and gained a lot of information from using it....but never to see if they can be caught again.

The hole punch sounds interesting.
