What are yalls thought's when to use the snell knot and does it really help the hook set/lure position?

Have never used it with lures, but use it with circle hooks and straight hooks with good results. It seems to help the hookup ratio and is also a very strong knot when tied correctly.

On hooks, always. There are more than a few studies conducted by commercial fishermen that shows the rate of hook-ups is best with a properly oriented snell knot. When I changed to it my hook-ups increased significantly.


If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!
