So i threw a couple of different cranks and they would not stay down. They kept coming to the surface and running sideways. I made sure everything was straight but it still wouldnt stay on line. Any suggestions

Bass Pro has a CB tuner, or you can do it with a set of needle nose pliers. If the bait is coming to you and it runs right, tune the line tie to the right (if the bait is facing you). Tune in VERY MINUTE angles, too. Let me ask, are you using a clip or a swivel? That can impede the running straight as well. Are you tying to the split ring or the line tie? All of those could be throwing the balance off. It is HARD to get a CB running TRUE, so it comes up under the boat, but once you get it there, it is a great fish catching tool. If tuning the line tie does not work, look at tuning the hooks, too. Just some thoughts to help you. Hopefully, some of this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

This is a YouTuber named Fluke Master. He explains how to tune your crankbaits by yourself

First thing is tuning the line tie as Thad mentioned above....secondly I would ask what knot you are tying and what style split ring is on your bait?? Many times the type of knot will effect the bait.

So I found out what it is , I fish grass alot and instead of pulling the grass off I smack the crankbait on the water which is causing it to become a crack-bait. Won't be doing that anymore , 5 crankbaits later.

I'm sure I'm confused on the direction of lure travel,, but if my crankbait is heading to my left as I reel it to the boat, I tune the line tie very slightly to the right with the lure facing me. If it's running to my right, I bend it to the left with the lure facing me.
I really like Norman crankbaits, but I swear they are the most poorly tuned crankbaits out of the box.

If the CB is facing you, you tune it TOWARDS where it is traveling, not away from it. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Flukemaster said to tune it slightly in the opposite direction that it is running. A little trial and error on the water will answer the question though. :-)

It's all in the perspective

If the Crankbait is running to the right (the Crankbait's right)
and you are looking at the Crankbait from behind (tail/rear closest to you); keeping the lure in that position, gently bend the line tie to the left (your left)

If you are looking at the Crankbait from the front (the line tie is closest to you) you bend the line tie to your right (the Crankbait's left)

The confusion here is that when some people say the Crankbait is running to the right; they don't mean the Crankbait's' right, but from the perspective of the angler watching the Crankbait veer to the angler's right as the lure gets close

Hope this clarifies
