When on a lake like Grapevine and the ski boats have kicked up a four foot wave I'm not sure how to best handle this situation. I have taken them on head on and have had them swamp my boat and almost completely throw me out. Any advice would be great.

Wish I could help, but my eyes are always closed when I hit the wave and I don't know what happened...only that I survived.

I'd like to know also

To help clarify my question I am questioning what to do while I'm fishing and all of I sudden a four foot wave closes in on me. When I say four foot I don't think I'm exaggerating by much. I'll just call them wave boats but they will kick up a wave that will roll across the lake and all of a sudden it's on top of you. As I said I have literally been thrown in the air and come crashing down in my boat. I have an 185 ranger.

They should be a law against the wake boats that are designed to make waves> the dock owners just love them. fish

45 to parallel them and let them roll under you.

Legally, they are responsible for their wake and any damage it causes. People need to start holding them responsible

My girlfriend's family has a "wake board boat" and bloo_rainger you aren't exaggerating those waves are SUPER HIGH!! They have ballast tanks in them that help keep it low to generate such a BIG wake... As for riding them out I've hit em about every which way(depending on if I see em coming) and the 45 degree angle like mentioned seems to best!

I do wish dock anglers would hold them accountable! you have one bass boat on plane causing minimal wake zoom within 200' of a dock and they raise bloody he// but those wake board boats at the same distance causing a major wake they don't do sh// about!!

Last time out on Alan Henry i had a wake setter pass within casting distance.

He went about 100 yards past me made a circle and came right back. It was like it was almost intentional.

Both times i grabbed my remote and went to the back of the boat. First Iake sure im away from all rocks. k Tried to hit the wave somewhere between dead on and 45 and took a wave over the bow both times.

Ive almost been thrown out by the dam before because of the same thing. That time i was on the bow. Now i go to the back of the boat to ride it out and i at least know i will stay in the boat.

I just ride it out at 45 deg. then my feet get a wet on the 3rd or so wave from it coming over the bow, but I keep on fishin'

The ocean boats on Texoma put out surprising wakes. Just be aware of your surroundings and move to water deeper than the wave...
