I just read about the Ultrex problems, I am thinking about getting a 45" 80lb Terrova with spot lock. Is there any thing I should know about it be fore I buy one? Yes I would love an Ultrex but it way out of my price range.

Terrova is great. I have the older model and would love the new improved spot lock. The pedal control isn't that great IMO. I only use it for minor corrections while fighting a fish. Use the remote 99% of the time. Try to find someone who has one to take you out. The electronic steer seems to be a love or hate with not much in between

I enjoyed having it on my last boat the only issue I had was running the transducer cable to DI. I wasn't brace enough to remove the head and run it down the channel but I would highly recommend doing it cause if not it's a PITA to use the spot lock cause it will just wrap the cable multiple times around the shaft.

It's a pretty simple 10 minute job to pull the shaft and run the cable thru. Nothing in there that you'll need up

Heard there good But my brother in law ordered one and the guy that does the repairs to em has a trash can full of broken shafts. Have to be real careful if fishing shallow stumpy waters. that TM doesn't fold under the bow if you center punch a stump

Have had a 80# 45 in. Terrova with iPilot and Univ sonar for a couple years now. Works fine - I use the toe buttons on the front of the foot pedal to steer, power on/off, etc. most of the time. Only pain is pulling the TM up - no handle or rope. Also be sure to run the clamp down the shaft and tighten it before running choppy water or trailering otherwise the TM might deploy itself and mess up the shaft.

Can't run the transducer cable in the slot on the new Terrova, the lift assist is there now. There's a simple work around that does just fine though, but it takes a bit of time to do. Rig it right and it won't wrap tight.
It does fine in the stumps, rocks, docks and even hitting a sea wall or two.
If you're up around Granbury after the next few weeks, drop me a DM. I'll let you try it out. Work's got me too busy to get out now.
