Easy fix, if they clearly state lake fork in the email regarding warranty, don't ever say lake fork again. If asked, it's an open water lake with very few stumps lol

They wouldn't warranty the shaft again against breakages on Fork! What! With all that said, I would buy another one of these things in a second because of how great they are.

I've fished mine on Monti 5 days in the last month and Fork stumps are like pillows compared to Monti and I have not had any issues. I'm sure like any piece of new technology there are going to be bugs to work out once they are on the lakes being used in an uncontrolled environment. I've not had a single issue and like others said, it's an incredible piece of equipment.

I did buy the four year warranty though..... I figured the first model of anything is destined for trouble.

Nothing yet.

P.S. Not true.... I smacked a stump on Pines and broke a blade off the prop. New one bolted right on and didn't miss a beat. All my fault.

I called Minn Kota after I saw this post and wanted to speak with someone higher up about the email I received. I was told that they would warranty the shaft in the future but what the rep should have clarified for me is that they will not warranty the labor next time. He did apologize for the misleading email. He said they only warranty the labor the 1st time on a broken shaft, after that it's at their discretion and being on a lake like Fork their is a strong chance they would not warranty the labor next time.

I have heard of at least 3 or 4 shafts breaking. It does not have the break away feature that the Foretrex has. This has been the deal breaker for me here in ET.

I would like to see that email. It specified Lake Fork?
I have shattered 2 of the same shafts on a terrova and and Ulterra and never have they said that. It was no questions asked.

How are they on the batteries? Seems like using spot lock would be a pretty good drain.

Supposedly they are suppose to be better for the batteries because it will rev up or down as needed vs having your motor set on 60 or 70 and it's sending that much power constantly while the button is pressed in turn using more battery. It could be a sales pitch but I could see it possibly saving battery.

Mine is easier on the batteries than either of my previous tm's. Far less recharge time needed at night than ever before.

I've had my new boat for 2 weeks and the Ultrex already broke. The manual steering won't work. Spot lock still works and it will spin around and keep me on one spot, but pressing the pedal doesn't do anything. It won't move up or down when I put my foot on it... Sigh
