Say you catch a flathead that you'd estimate at 40lbs. Trouble is, your Berkley digital scales only go up to 25. However, your buddy also has a pair of these scales. The question is, can you hang the fish using both scales and get an accurate weight?

I think you can weigh it on one, take it off, then weigh it on the other - and add he two results together for a more accurate read.
I've eyeballed some 14 inchers and estimated them at 3 - 4lbs, used the above described method and it was spot on.

Try this next time. Go to your nearest Walmart. Be very discrete carrying that fish in to the meat market; there will be many Rednecks there that will try to take that fish from you. They will weigh it just to get you out of the store.

Weigh 40 pound cat on second set of 25 lb scales. It reads 25 lbs. and VOILA! Your 40 pound cat weighs 50!

Yes fouzman, except in your specific example though, two 30lb scales would be preferable. Just remember these requirements: 1. Must have 2 scales of equal capacity 2. Fish weight must exceed individual scale capacity 3. Use highest weight capacity scale possible (see #2 above)
Not only is it accurate, but it also maximizes fish yield!

Yes, one scale in mouth, and loop a string to tail and pull tail up until other scale no longer is maxed out. Then add the totals. Scales don't need to be the same weight. The topics lately or the answers crappie section had a big discussion about knots to tie crappie jigs. I blame our former president

Just cut your fish in half and weigh both pieces... your welcome... And we have a winner!

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!
