I have raised gave in aquariums before and actually have a couple right now. They are more docile than you would think in an aquarium. I've never had an issue with them. Bluegill are more aggressive than the gar haha

I caught a baby alligator gar in a cast net big around as a pencil and a few inches long years ago. Kept him in an fish tank until he was too big to turn around and turned him loose where we caught him. Surprisingly he grew very quickly. We named him pokey. When he was about a foot long he could... and would eat 20 inch long perch as fast as you could throw them in the tank, his stomach would swell up like a balloon. Was an awesome fish.
