Currently looking at Dobyn's Fury 735C for frogging. I know some folks like say a 6' 6" rod for frogs while others might do a 7' 6". I'm thinking 7' 3" is a happy medium being not too long but not too short. I'm thinking this length rod has the advantage over a shorter one in getting the fish's head up and out of cover quicker. What our your thoughts, preferences and experiences? TIA

Wouldn't 7' be the medium?

I guess the actual answer to the initial question would be "comfort" for the fisherman?

Addendum: I don't believe I have any rod over 7'.

I like a 7'6" myself.

Technically, yes, 7' would be the median between the two but I wasn't trying to be exact in that manner really.

As well, I could see a shorter rod being more helpful to me bank fishing when twitching the rod downward but a longer rod would certainly be very manageable on the deck of a boat. However, I don't really want to buy 2 frog rods when I can get away with a side twitch most cases from the bank. What I definitely need is long cast-ability both from the bank and from the boat and a longer rod helps in that department.

I have a few frog rods. TFO, loomis and just bought the rod you are talking about. The fury is a outstanding rod for the price. The 7'3 also works well.
