Made an exploratory trip to Texana this morning to see if the catfish were moving shallow yet. Caught 13 blues and channels on Danny Kings punch bait. Slow bite in AM, seemed to pickup after sun got high. The few I kept had very small fine eggs, so it will be a few more weeks and it should bust loose. Caught all in water between 1 foot and 3 feet. Water is a very dirty brown from Highway 111 to the dam. Talked to one other fisherman that was walking the bank in the park and picking up some nice crappie on jigs in water about a foot deep.

Did you fish the comorant roosts? I grew up in the bottom of that lake before it was a lake. My family property is now in the jungle. It has never cleared up since it was filled. Always muddy and always good for some cats! Thanks for the report! Ps. I used to work in Gonzales at the rail yard. Love to kayak up to the dam in town and wack a few yellows!

No, I did not fish the roosts, I ran down to the timber close to the dam but didn't see any "white" trees. I too used to boat up to the dam at Gonzales and catch a boat load of channels. But just like most things today, the city has screwed up fishing at the dam and about to screw it up more.

I haven't bass fished Texana in 25 years. I just cannot handle the muddy water every day. Used to be good up close to Highway 59, but that was a long time ago.
