Catching a lot of males shallow. Still haven't figured out where the females are. I assume they are not far behind.

Got into them pretty good Wednesday when the water finally warmed up. Mostly males, but what females we did catch had eggs. Now the water temp drop back down 66-67 they shut down.

Glad I haven't missed it. Had kids 1 year bday party last weekend and hoping to try it out this coming weekend.

I still haven't found any shallow. Since the water came up a couple years ago the shallow bite has been a challenge for me. Anybody on them?

My neighbor has been catching them daily but most are short. He's catching decent numbers but taking 6-8 shorts per keeper he said. I hit few canals last weekend and got 25 or so and missed a bunch but only 4 keepers. The ones I caught were 4' or less jig and bobber next to some type of wood or brush. None had eggs and very few my neighbors been catching over the last couple weeks have had eggs either. hmmm

Caught several last Tuesday. Up shallow in the grass. I fished the north end of the lake. Had to raise big motor I was so shallow. Grass was in about 1.5-2 foot of water. Maybe slightly shallower. Dropped jig into open pockets in grass. I am saying grass but actually it is some type of plant. Hope this helps. Let me know how you do.

Pecan Plantation, especially the marina. Cut near Lake Retreat Condos on Kelly Dr.

I stayed there for spring break last month. Anywhere with flooded brush held crappie.
