Went to RR on 4/8/17 and got a late start. Didn't get on the water until 10ish. When I pulled up some guys were leaving with a about 5 keepers. I got a little discouraged seeing that, but wasn't going to give up. I've had a hard time finding fish consistently the last few outings. I fished deep and would catch 1 or 2, then go shallow and catch 1 or 2.
I started shallow and worked a cove for about 2 hours with only two bites. Another boat came in a trolled around for a bit and so I moved deep. Couldn't get on anything for about an hour, so I transitioned back into the shallow water in a cove I never fished before.
It was a little after 1:00pm and I got my first fish on. Slightly keeper size, so I doubled back and worked that area for at least 30 min and caught around a dozen shorts.
I didn't want to get far from that spot so I moved down the bank about 30 yards and hit a hole that was absolutely full of crappie. The first one I caught is pictured here, so I dropped the anchor and kept my jig in one spot for the next hour.
Off that I caught about 30 in 3' of water in roughly an hours time, and would have stayed all day if I didn't have a commitment I had to make.
No doubt in my mind I would have hauled a limit had I found it sooner.
Finally got the monkey off my back and I am already anxious to hit it again.
