 When do they come up shallow

Is my memory correct that it is usually in May when bluegills move up into shallow water and get active (in Central Texas lakes)?

They are just starting to move shallow here on Lake Somerville. Friday was the first time I've caught them from the bank this year.

A lot of sunfish are spawning right now here in South Central Texas and are in shallow water. Usually during the months of May through early fall I will catch em in water 8 to 12 feet deep. Type of water body will also play a factor.

I am catching sunnies in 3 to 7 feet of water on the Guadalupe River Lakes. Like Chuck (BAF) stated usually in the late spring and summer months I will catch most of my sunfish in 8 to 12 feet of water depending on the type of water I am fishing.

Bass have finished their spawn and the sunfish should have moved into shallow water to complete their spawn. Usually catch them in about 10 feet of water from late spring till fall. Docks are good spots to get them.
