Got on the water at 7:00 am headed to North bank of Towash area. We found fish there last week and they were there today. Saw a lot of activity on the surface but wasn't sure what it was until we got close - GAR, a ton of them. Birds were working up shallow so we tried some top water but only got two. Moved back out to 15 fow and started slabing up a lot of nice sandbass. Rob was pulling them in two at a time and we were sure today was going to be a good one. That lasted about 20 minutes and then we could only manage one here and there so we decided to move. Tried several mid lake humps, the bluffs, Cedron, Mcgowen and other areas with minimual success. We could find small groups of fish but they wouldn't bite our slabs. Did get one nice striper but very few or no fish at each spot. Rob asked me, what is more frustrating - finding fish that won't bite or not finding fish at all? We decided to go back to where we started and had some success with slabs then Rob suggested we try casting a spinner or little george. He tied on a little george and first cast got a nice one. I had a small spinner and was catching one to his 3 or 4 so I switched. We were watching some birds working over on the East bank but thought that it was too shallow for there to be fish in there. We finally couldn't take it and went over there anyway. 4 fow but we saw shad running for their lives. It was one, every cast nice 14-15" sandbass. What a way to end the day. We caught more fish in that last hour than we did all day. Clicker broke so don't know actual count, all released. Was talking to a guy at the ramp and he said they did real well with stripers on the rocks down at the dam, forgot toask but I suspect live shad.

If you mean Whitney State Park then you are real close to where the red arrow is. This is where we were fishing. Towash is the creek that comes into Whitney lake South and East of the the arrow.

Thanks for the info. Yes we are staying at Lake Whitney Park. Taking my brother out for the 1st time on my boat.
I didn't want to totally skunk it, LOL. At least this gives us a starting point. Doesn't mean we are going to catch
anything lol, but we sure are gonna try.

Went yesterday and Towash was no good for us, the rain did a number on that area. We tried but no bites. The only place we could find and catch fish was in the feeder creeks to Cedron. Most in 12-14 fow.

Striper or sand bass? Did you try live bait?

Did not try live bait. We target sandbass but wednesday we caught a lot of small striper mixed in.

I have seen several reports of striper on shad so that would be a good way to go now. We have not observed any top water action to speak of, we have tried but only got one or two. I think this lake is on the verge of some good early morning and late evening top water. We have caught more lmb while fishing for whites on this lake than any other we have fished, so if you like lmb this should be a great lake to try. I caught my personal best lmb on a slab, suspended.
