I'm thinking about getting a new graph and was hoping to get some input from you guys....I'm thinking either the Helix mega or the Lowrance Gen 3. Just wanting to know which is more user friendly and has the better imaging. TIA

Just go to Basspro or Cabela's and see which one is easiest for you to operate.. Both units are great units and its just a matter of which one you like best..

Both are good. My brother has lowrance and I have birds. Each have their qualities. Like said earlier it is the one YOU prefer.

You will learn in short time to use either not a big deal. I think its the old ford vs chevy thing. I think as has been said above go and look at both and see which one will best serve you.

Dont trust the simulation at the stores because it doesnt look the same. This is coming from someone that has a lowrance and a humminbird side by side on the console.

you have to figure when buying a lowrance is like a rental because in most cases they don't repair them but sell you another unit with less warranty.

I have lowrance gen 3's now Did have birds I was suduced by the touch screen Of lowrance which is way more user friendly than they used to be But humminbird was was always easier To operate screen quality is good on both Not sure about the new mega My only real advice is do not go With the 3d from lowrance not worth the money

I beat my head against a wall for a year trying to decide between the 2. Lowrance for touch screen and Humminbird for popularity and ease of use. Played with the units at Bass Pro and Cabela's all the time and ended buying a Garmin which I never even considered. Great unit and with the money you save you can afford a larger screen and more Senkos.
The Garmin has worked really well for me so far(About 1 1/2 months).

Ah yes the age old question - don't stress yourself over the situation. I've used both and they both can do exactly what you want them to do. I ended up back with Lowrance purely because I like the interface on them more than the birds.
I have not ventured into the 3D imaging yet so cannot speak for that.

I'm a Lowrance fanboy, but before I upgrade to the Carbon series, I'm going to check out the new Raymarine. The 3D looks really cool, and price is very fair. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TJFhKwDWLN4

You should just ask what kind do you have because that's always the answer. Everybody is going to say theirs is the best. These battles get fought on here all the time. Ask whose got the best boat paddle. That should be fun.

this is such a Ford vs. Cheby vs. dodge discussion. I run Bird at the wheel and Lowrance at the nose and get the best of all worlds IMHO. I prefer Bird SI and Lowrance 2D/DI. Just me..
