My son has been hitting the creeks solo and did well yesterday. Big one went 8.5 inches caught several other nice ones and some very fat females loaded with eggs. 15 total

Warmouth have three spines on the annul fin and 10 spines on the dorsal fin. The fish your son is holding is a Green Sunfish. It could also possibly be a Hybrid Green Sunfish due to it's color. Color sometimes changes depending where the fish was caught. thumb

The 3rd picture looks like a pure green but the first 2 look like hybrids. Maybe a warmouth/green hybrid. Those greens seem to hybridize with everything. You should send a picture to the TPWD and ask. That's what I do.
