This was last week. It's still a little early. I'm only catching decent numbers when I can find the shad against the bank. I've been driving around until I see a good bait slick running up against the bank, and I stop and fish that. Lots of smaller fish still. Out of that limit, only 3 males looked like they were ready to spawn. Most of the eggs weren't very developed yet. What does a "bait slick" look like? I'm not familiar with this term
