Ditto on Huckabee loop. Can be tied in the dark and especially useful with these tired eyes. Also very easy to do double drop. Yup

THIS!! Been using this knot for years and have great "Thump to Hook-up" ratio, plus 95% of fish caught are hooked in the roof of the mouth and more times than not require forceps to remove the hook.

Don't forget about lure buoyancy. The jig may be tilted out of water but could be perfectly balanced in the water. I tried and didn't like the loop knot, too many hang ups in the thick stuff I fish...I just use the improved clinch knot, and re-set the line occasionally...I always look at the jig in the water, to check the buoyancy though...normally the jig sits straight in the water with the jig set up I use, so I typically only have to reset my line/jig, when I am checking resetting the body...In other words, it is normally not even an issue to worry about due to the buoyancy of the plastic...I do use non collared jigheads, which puts the center of gravity closer to the jig eye...

Most jigs/jigheads have a hook forward balance. There are a few out there, that have a center balance. Not real sure that it makes much difference though..... Center balance 1/16 oz jig on top, standard 1/8 oz roundhead w/ plastic on bottom, both tied on a loop knot. Hey REDGUN is that first Jig a Stickmarsh Perfect Crappie Jig? Its "my replica" of that style jig.

Was messing around with the water trough and remembered your thread about getting your jig to hang straight, so I took a picture but I see where bonz has already done that. Here's my pic of a loop knot, 1/16 oz. jig and Bonehead plastic. Level is good but I don't really mind my jig hanging tail down a little because remember lots of crappie come up from beneath to grab the bait. My hookups improved greatly after I started using a loop knot.
To whom much is given, much is required.

Thanks to all for your insight.

Not really an issue, if it is moving any whatsoever it will be straight. Even if you're on a doc deadsticking, the tiniest movement of your rod causes the jig to move. On a boat it's definitely not still. Notice how falling jigs catch fish? Doesn't fall parallel...and they still bite.
