Guess I should have specified my targets lol.
But i will wait til after the bass fisherman ( and ladies ) leave out before I ask again.

I'd prefer to target Whites, hybrids, stripers and maybe even crappie.

LMB are fun to catch but not my target, BUT they do eat good roflmao woot

Lots of big hybrids in the lake. Lots of cats. I know nothing about fishing for those species. There is a guide out of Stow-A-Way Marina named Butch Terpe who specializes in all the species you mentioned.

I talked to a few pros during the Classic that said they were catching some giant hybrids during practice.

There are definitely plenty of hybrids in there, but most of them I've been able to catch recently are just shy of legal. The shad ought to be spawning on the bulkheads about now, so they should be pretty easy to find in the early mornings. I haven't seen any white bass or yellow bass recently, so I'm thinking their numbers may be down. Channel cats are abundant, they can always be found if all else fails. I don't know about crappie. Never fished 'em.

A word to the wise, Conroe is not for the faint of heart. With the wind blowing like it has been for the last couple of days, you're going to want to be off the water well before noon, or you and your boat will take a beating. If the wind is over 15, just stay home. Also, watch out for the wake boarders and other pleasure boaters on the weekends, they sometimes outnumber the fish, and most of them don't give a flip about fishermen or boater safety.

I wish more folks had common curtesy. Seems as though they have no regards to others more and more these days !!

Thank you very much for the reply. Greatly appreciated !

Butch is a great guy and a great guide with many years' experience on Conroe. You can get him at 936/856-7080.

Look up "Fishical Therapy Lake Conroe Guide" on Facebook. His name is Mike and he guides strictly for hybrids. He will put you on them or you don't pay. I haven't fished with him, as I fish primarily for largemouth, but I've talked to several people who have hired him and were very pleased.

Cat fishing in conroe is great also stripers and whites. I do not fish for bass. Too boring. Cats are easier and limit is higher.

Catfish there is great. My target is bass but have spent time catfishing that lake. Usually a great turn out. Never had caught a crappie there though....
