Living with cancer is hard for everyone but men have the added difficulty of just being men. Our society and culture has created this view of what a man is suppose to be and to step outside of those confines or show any weakness is taboo. Many men will simply suffer in silence and endure the pain to the very end and miss the opportunity to heal and share what they are going through. Reel Recovery does what few other programs can do by bringing together men who are living with cancer to share and support one another through this terrible disease. I am so blessed to be part of this wonderful program as a fishing buddy where many years tossing flys has finally paid off !

Nice video, very nice Blue Gill too, very envious.
Cancer is very prevalent now and I I take my hat off to you for your helping hand.
My wife has been battling Cancer since February 2016 she refused chemotherapy and radiation. She was almost in remission using vegetable juicing, she has had a set back because of a failing kidney but is otherwise in good health.

Thank you for volunteering your time to help such a worthy cause.

There are quite a few great fly fishing charities which try to get people out on the water to help take their mind off their troubles for a bit. There is also Casting for Recovery which focuses on women and Project Healing Waters which teaches disabled veterans to fly fish.

If fly fishing is your hobby, there are a lot of ways to get involved and help out some great people.

Ben
thanks for sharing this-
One important note: these retreats are free to the participants and we welcome anyone in various stages of recovery or illness to sign up and come to participate in great times. But these aren't really free- we must raise money to put them on. So If you want to know more and help, we will be having our annual fund raising auction at wild acres. please see link for details.

Be well fish on!

That was an awesome write up about Reel Recovery - your personal testimony drove home how important these retreats can be to cancer survivors.
