I haven't used baitcasters much lately so what would you recommend for a saltwater rod and reel combo for around $150?

What type of fishing are you doing? throwing lures, bottom fishing?

I have a 6' beast master 40# class with a Daiwa sealine 20 shv for bottom fishing. I think we're looking at one step down with this inshore one I'm trying to get some advice on

I've been using ambassador black max blue max and also a few shimanos loaded with 20lb braid. I only use them to throw lures and corks for reds, specks, and flounder back in the bays and around the jettis. Other than that I use my ambassador 5000, 5500, 6000, 6500 with 25lb test mono with proper leader fishing live or dead bait on the bottom or trolling out passed the jettis to about 10-15 miles out. Been fishing like this for years and never had any problems as long as I clean them after use. My freezer stays stocked up on fish quite well.

Cool, those ambassadors are good reels with 15#s of drag you can bring in some good fish
