I put my Sienna 2500 on a Bass Pro Shops ProComp pole. It has light action, is two piece, and is easy to transport in my car. It was about $30, and I'm happy with it.

I have the 5'6" light version, with 8lb mono installed. It casts very well, and isn't too much of a PITA to haul around when bank fishing, compared to longer poles.

You can't really do all that with one rod.

For a bank fishing rod, you'd want something short and light, rated for maybe 4-8lb line, 1/16-1/2oz. Short because casting in tight quarters is a pain, light because you're fishing small jigs and baits.

That rod will not be good for fishing sandies in a lake, and especially not for fishing stripers.

Sienna 2500 is probably too big for bank fishing, but fine for main lake depending on line choice.

The 2500 is a little large for sandies but it will work. A 1000 series Sienna with a medium light rod would have been better. There is no such thing as a perfect sandie and hybrid rod because the size of those fish are so different. A 2 pound sandie is a big one while Hybrids can get up to 10+ pounds. For Rowlett creek I prefer a lighter rod set up with 6 lb test. You can land a large hybrid if you set your drag correctly. You really don't have to pay a fortune for a rod. Academy has a Daiwa medium size spinning rod for $30. I like a 6ft rod for creek fishing but a seven footer will work.

Get you a 6 ft combo from cabelas (lightweight) for under 70 bones and when you break it take it back to replace. That's what I suggest for creekin

I am also looking for a similar setup, but have narrowed it down to between 8-10 feet, MH Fast paired with a spinning reel. I want to use it on the banks, dams, and maybe take with me to Galveston or PA trips. I will probably use anything from 30-80lb braid.

No idea what brands or models to be eyeing. I'd like to get one in the $100 neighborhood. I need a better rig for stripers and hybrids though.

This setup will be way to heavy for creek fishing. A 7ft med action rod with a 2000 or 2500 series reel is as large as you want to go. Your gonna need two setups if you want to fish the creek and the gulf.

Did some clicking around based on rods I already own or tried that I know are good on some discount sites I've used in the past. This is a good deal for a sandbass rod / 2 piece for 30 that I use for the creeks sometimes.

As far as length, biggest reason is longer casts. You don't need a super heavy rod for striper unless you are using super heavy lures. Sensitivity isn't a priority as they usually let you know when they bite. You do need a longer rod to cast lures to catch striper on or below more lakes. Not labelled for "striper" but something like this for 30? I see people do well below Texoma with Ugly Sticks although this isn't a big lure rod the 8.5' would work with float and fly or smaller jigs, etc for 30.

Well I've got plenty of setups I could creek fish with, but I'm looking for something I can cast farther with for bank fishing Lake Lewisville and hit dam outflows. If it would be viable for use in the Gulf, wether thats surf, pier, jetty, or whatever, that's more of a plus than a purchasing requirement. If that requires two setups, that's fine. I really would like to find a combo that could be used for the dams and banks efficiently.

I appreciate the feedback, I'm just not looking to creek fish with this. I'm asking the question because I'm not familiar with the brands/models and what's affordable in the 100-150 range for combos.
