Academy was out of my old trusty KVD frogs so I picked up a Spro popping frog (for $9!!!) and the damn thing fills up with water every time I throw it. After each retrieve I have to squeeze it out because it starts looking like a suspending jerk bait about half way through. Anyone have any tips on how to fix this? Can I just put some super glue or something on the hole where the hook goes through to seal it up or will that hurt the action?

I have the same issue...but, I just fight through it because the thing catches some nice ones...that being said, I would like to hear about what other guys are doing to prevent this and if it hurts the action...

I had the same issue with my Spro hollow bodied frog, I finally threw it away. I've never had any issues with the Booyah frogs so I just stick with those now.

Just take a bit of super glue and dob a little on near the hole the hook comes out of. Then pull the hook in and out a bit a couple of times then let it dry. DO NOT glue hole completely closed as frog will not compress when bitten and will screw up hookup ratio.
Also you can take a rubber band and cut it. Wrap it a few times around hook shank and then ties a couple of knots in it. Slide all the way up against that hole. This will work also just not as good as the glue.

Oh yeah good thinking on not sealing the hole completely. I probably would have missed about 50 fish before I figured out what was going on. Thanks for the advice, I'll give this a try.

Never had this issue with mine...might be a deal breaker for me if I did. But geez does that thing catch fish, and my hookup ratio on it is so much better than any other frog.

I don't seal it...I cut a hole in them. Works great. You cut a small hole on the back side of the frog (kinda where you'd expect their butthole to be). Try it before you chunk them. I try the frogs first but some Spros need this mod. Sounds crazy but it works. https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12394-spro-frog-mod-mod/Soapbox: Ridiculous that you have to modify a $8-10 lure right out of the box so you can actually use it. Thumbs down, Spro.
