Went out to Espantosa to catch more crappie for a fish fry. The day was hot and windy. We headed out to the spill way and tied the boat to a branch we always latch to, jumped out and started fishing. I caught a 12in crappie on a monkeymilk and chartreuse jig.
Gar1970 took it up to put it in fish basket and it was a good thing i caught it when i did because the boat had floated away with the branch beacause of the wind.

Happy to say he caught the boat and reeled it back in! For a minute there i thought he was gonna go for a swim!
We moved from there to try a different spot. Our daughter caught a tiny one. It was so cute that our grandaughter had to give it a kiss.

Shes only 2 and already has a passion for fishing. I love it!
I guess you can say fishing wears her out.
We ended up with 11 crappie not sure if the wind had anything to do with the slow fishing but it was fun.

You always have the best pictures and tell interesting stories! Reeling the boat back in, good stuff...dont just tie it up, make a heavy anchor and throw the anchor up on the bank (one that wont roll), then tie it up. That is the definition of good clean family fun! Keep it up!

cheer

Always nice to see stories from around the state. I remember when interning in Brownsville, TX where a man could go and get crappie. Redfish/speckled trout, no problem, but lakes were way more scarce down there.

Glad y'all had fun!

I agree with SheCrappieKilla.. Things happen quick.. i.e. boat floated away.. And you would still get a ticket.

Hate to see any bad things happen to good people...

Teaching a child to swim is a future lifesaver, keeping a lifevest on them is a right now lifesaver...I almost lost my daughter at that age while she was in my arms as I sat in knee deep water...never let her near the water without a lifevest after that episode, until she was 15...even then and after several years of swimming instruction...I am big on Lifevests on children, even adults for that matter, regardless of how good a swimmer you may be. As with my daughters episode, she wiggled out of my grasp and was under, just when I was looking at my wife to say something, two seconds later I was lucky enough to feel her hand touch my foot, and a quick grab netted a hand full of her hair...nothing on this earth frightened me as much as that near disaster!

I agree that I hate to see bad things happen to good people/families...Keep up the good posts!
