So I've been seeing this company pop up a lot lately (sixgill). So I checked out their ad and decided to get the 2 cyclone reels for the price of 1 ($90). Just wanted to know has anyone fished with these reels ?? If so how do you like them.

Where'd you see that special? I've been wanting to get a few of those and try them. I met the guys at the Houston show last year, they're out of Grapevine, and was pretty impressed with the product. I was just a little short on cash at the time.

So I bought the 2 for 1... Cyclone reel is the entry level of their reels. I'm still undecided on these. I've had them for about 3 weeks now. Been on the lake a few times and I have REALLY mixed feelings. Straight out of the box one reel squeaks and by the second day of fishing it clicks. I'm taking it apart tonight to see what the issue is, bad bearings, improper lube, or something in the case? As for casting, they seem to cast pretty well. Nothing spectacular, and I'm not as good as some guys so getting the brake adjusted to prevent backlashes took some time. I normally don't have many problems, but with these reels it has been a chore. I haven't actually had to cut out a backlash in a long time (several years), but one of these completely ate up about 75 yds of PowerPro. At this point I would not put the reel in the $90 category, I would even have problems putting them up against H2O Mettles at $49. Maybe I just got a few lemons, it happens. We'll see what I find when I disassemble and clean the really bad one and also how SixGill handles the issue.
Oh, it also appears these may not be completely serviceable. I wasn't readily able to see how to remove the spool cover but I would think a "$90" reel would be more than a use it and throw it away.
