Fished 6:30-11:30. Air Temperature 51-66 degrees. Water temperature 66-71 according to TPWD. Slow bite to start. Fish moved off the bank with the cold front. It took me a little while to figure this out as I was determined that there should have been spawners up shallow. No beds that I could see, and I looked. Caught a 12" sand bass up shallow on the square bill at about 7:20, then proceeded to haul water for the next two hours. Finally wised up and fished a Norman DD-14 under the bridge and stuck a solid 2 1/2 lb chunk at about 9:20. Fished a Texas rigged Zoom 6" green pumpkin lizard about 30 yards off the bank and caught a nice bass and a dink in successive casts. It was encouraging. Tried that pattern agajn for the next hour but couldn't duplicate my success. Ended fishing the rock jetty near Lynn Creek Marina and wound up with a keeper black crappie on the trusty square bill. Overall, it was an ok morning, but I had to work. If you go this weekend, I might fish deep to shallow rather than shallow to deep. Tight lines!
I'm not a chick.
