I currently have a 2012 Skeeter TZX 170 that's rated for 115HP, but it only has a Yamaha 90HP 4 stroke. I would like to upgrade and repower to a Yamaha 115HP SHO. Looking to gain a few mph(s). Any info would be helpful....pros and cons?....Thanks in advance..

Yeah, I figured it would cost a few thousand, I was thinking if I could sell the 90HP, which has less than 10 hours on it, I could use the cash towards the new engine...

do your homework first
make sure controls will work for new engine
lotta labor involved ---are you gonna rig it or pay someone ? whats that gonna cost ?
how do you do pull this all off ? gonna sell yours first ? buy the new one first and then hope you sell yours ?
collect the facts and do the math -- the math never lies --- $ per mph --an informed decision will give you the answer

im not the authority on this but i bet you only pick up 3-4 mph

keep your livewell dry unless your using it --remove stuff you dont need and get 3-4 mph for free

i would think you need to jump to 150 hp to make a big difference

I ordered my Seaark with a etec 90. I was told that a step up to a 115 would only give me 3-4 MPH on the top end. Not worth the money to me.

Just enjoy your 90 and don't worry about the extra 5 or 6 mph you would get with a 115.

That isn't fast enough?? My usual cruising speed on the water is around 18-22mph.
