My VERY first reel, like most, was a Zebco. Dad weaned me from that at pretty young age, though. I cut my teeth on these starting about 6 or 7. That is the reel my Pappaw bought me the day I was born. I still have it, cleaned up and put away.I didn't start using it until I was about six. The first reel to use was a Zepco 202.

Johnson Century was my first reel. Ambassadeur 5000 was the first baitcaster I used, and I still have it. Those reels may be a little noisy and not as smooth as some, but they will last forever.

My first reel was my great grandfather's zebco 33 attached to a 6' telescoping rod. First baitcaster was a Pflueger Criterion. Still have them both.

Shimano Bantam Citica. Loved that reel.

Yep, Ambassador 5000....It was red.....lasted for about 15 years. Pulled in lots and lots of bass with it. Same for me...Still have it as a lure knocker reel.

Garcia Mitchell 300 spinning reel and a South Bend rod. My dad bought me the reel for my 13th birthday. I got the rod using Green Stamps. Happiest day of my life I am 60 and still have that reel though I never use it anymore.

Shakespeare wonder reel and montague steel rod back in late 40's...was envious of my Dad who had a Plueger supreme...graduated from wonder reel to a Mitchell 300 in early 50's then a red ambassador in mid 60's....

My first baitcasting reel was a Lew's BB1 Speed Spool that I purchased at Outdoors Unlimited in Arlington in 1976 for $59.95. I also bought a Browning Silaflex Graphite pistol grip rod - 5'6" long for $59.95. In those days 120 bucks was a pile of cash. I still have the both the reel and the rod.

Zebco 33 for me, but dad had an Ambassador baitcaster. He spent a lot of time with tangles.

First spinning reel was an old Mitchell. My first baitcaster was a brown reel from Cabela's - I think it was called the Tournament 2. I still have a Cabela's Fish Eagle that I ordered in 2001!

That's awesome you still have it. Wish I had the old Bantams & Lews of my dad's. I think my brother still has an old Browning pistol grip in his garage.
