new to the design...when I put a trailer on the wire on the backside of the keeper tears them apart. what am i doing wrong?

I actually like to take the wire keeper and turn it to the side so the wire does not split the trailer. Sometimes I just cut it off as well and add some super glue to the bait keeper.
