There are loads of big fish in there and I mean big!! The heat today almost got them. Fish early at night and late they are very lethargic midday. The weather was bad timing for the stocking(last year was great)hate to see them go to waste. There are 20" fish in there still. Lot of them at that! right below the dam at Briant Irving water is cooler coming from the lake like part of the river. Those will make it a bit longer. Get in there and get them quickly though!

At least going to use and being eaten. Tarrant regional water district stocked the fish. There were many fish from 16 to 24 inches

I tried, Robert! I was in Fort Worth for a few days on business and decided to fish for a couple of hours this evening before heading back to New Braunfels. I had one that was probably about 23 - 24 inches break me off less than six feet from the bank. A few minutes later I jerked a smaller trout right out of the water trying to set the hook. At the end of the evening I only managed to land a small bluegill and a bass that was probably an inch or two shy of being a keeper. Everything that bit hit on an olive green wooly bugger.

I just got home a few minutes ago and despite it being a very long day I'm already regretting not fishing for another hour. Thanks for the tip, I had a blast.

I know there's a fish consumption advisory for the Trinity, but I guess since the trout are only in the river for a couple of weeks they probably don't have time to get toxic.

That's alright Robert, I'm ex Navy and was able to call on some old skills and cuss like a sailor when he swam away! It didn't get me a fish, but it sure made me feel better. laugh

Could you clarify exactly where this is? I assume you're talking about right below the Lewisville dam, but I've never fished there before so I'm not sure where the access is.

I understand completely but with the flow and the small waterfall these are all going to birds. The body's won't flow over the little lower waterfall. To late now with the storm coming a few have made it right below the dam that we're getting the cooler water below the big dam. What shocks me is all the guys fishing for trout below 16 at pk. The water is way cooler by the dam and trout are everywhere no wonder why the striper get big in the plunge pool. There were thousands rising last week to emergers. Need a big lake castic special 12" trout swim bait this next month. As cold is the water has been right at the dam I think they can make it at least another month. Who knows has anyone ever taken the temperatures right at the base of the dam there may be a 30 pound trout hanging out right there that can't go anywhere else lol. I really wish they would have made that like a cold water fishery but it is substantially cooler than most
