That is going to be ultra heavy and you would have been better off trying it a month or two ago.

Well crud. Better over beds? Thoughts on putting some Pogeys and or mullet swim baits for summer saltwater?

Just get out there and throw it. You gotta commit to it for the day. Don't throw around heavy rock or timber and keep on reeling, you will catch some fish

That's basically the first setup I ever threw, and yes, I caught fish on it. Including three at once (had 4, but it bent out the hook). There were 2 whites and a black, all about 2 lbs. It is a heavy BEAST like that, so I moved away from the lead insert baits to 1/16 or 1/8 oz jig heads pretty quick.

Get you some 65lb power pro super slick line to throw it - and by all means throw it in timber and rocks, when you get hung up, just pull it out, you will straighten your hooks but you will get the bait back and you will catch a bunch of fish. I like to throw the 1/8 oz warhead eagle jig heads with a Double zz yellow bass sway back swimmer. Already had a 100 bass day on it this year. If you cant find the double zz lures go to a Yum type minnow

I just started throwing them this year. My rig is similar, except I am using jig heads on there as well. YUM sells packages of jig heads & swim baits and that is what I put on there. I wasn't catching fish on it and did some research, a lot of guys said to make the middle swim bait look a little different, so I changed that one out with a swim bait with some chartreuse in it. My first time using it I caught a 5lb smallmouth on a rocky point. I have caught several other fish, bass and hybrid, on it now and love the thing.

I would throw it on braided line as suggested by others. It does get caught in rock and wood, but I have not had an issue getting it out either by reeling down to it or just pulling it out using the power of the braid.

Added benefit of braided line, it floats! If The rig gets snapped off mid cast you have some line you can use to recover it! Lob cast, don't try to shoot it, and yes, watch your spool!

Till u get used to throwing it use light weight jig heads or preriggs. Also might think about having a tether from rod to left wrist first few times.
