I have an hds 9 on order and an Xi5 on the boat. I want to use waypoints to
position the boat. What do I need to connect them , other than the cables
provided with the HDS 9 ?

thanks

You need a nmea starter kit from lowrance. And I would recommend putting it on a switch because it constantly draws about 3 amps I think and will drain a battery.

Yep. You need the nmea starter kit and the gateway kit

Yes a dedicated switch is a must--Blue Sea is what I used. Hopefully Flipping Out will chime in.

I had an Accessory Switch that had nothing connected to it. I just used it for the NEMA2k. The draw is miniscule on my setup. I don't know about the gateway draw.

I have a battery disconnect switch at the main battery, Turn in off after each time out , shouldn't that be sufficient ?

That should suffice. I also have battery switch and, one between batts and tm as my tm is hard wired. I like having the switch between batts and tm in case probs arise.

I was ticked off paying $250 for that network cable. Somebody needs to make an aftermarket version.

One 10-pounder is better than ten 1-pounders; but 100 1-pounders is ok too!
