My buddy Zaldain is holding tough in 8th - Talked to him a few days ago and he was feeling pretty confident based on practice. I sent him a bunch of homemade smoked beef jerky and labeled it "Classic Fuel"

The announcers are perplexed . . . Ike leading use finesse: a shaky head on light spinning tackle. In the AM, he caught his first two using a Carolina Rig as I recall.
He has a pretty good record fishing this lake.
KVD seems really lazer focused and sticking to his plan throwing a jerk bait. He has caught quite a few small bass. If he gets into some big fish, he could cull himself into a high position very fast.
Sure wish they'd at least fan out and show a few more guys though the 4 or 5 they are focusing on are great choices.

Whats up with Hackney? Not a single fish? They didn't have a signal back and fourth with him so no updates came through. Someone said he had 4 fish for 9 pounds last I heard.

Took my boy out today as his dream is to be a pro angler one day. Word to spectators, going out this weekend... Each angler we watched I asked if it was ok and if they had any area they wanted us to stay in. Edwin Evers was the nicest as far as spectating.
He said he enjoys seeing young kids watching and allowed us to get within casting distance of him after he hit his limit. He would tell us where he was moving to and would tell us where to move so we weren't in his way.
We watched Jason Christie who was struggling but was very nice as well.
We tried to watch Ike but when we got to him he was the leader and had 5 to 8 boats around him so we didn't wanna make it worse.
Before leaving we watched Todd Faircloth. He was nice to us as well. He did ask we keep more distance then Evers did but we were fine with that. They are fishing for $300,000 so we did as they asked.
I've always looked at spectators in fishing events as more of pests then anything but my son begged me to take him out. After doing it, it kind of reminded me of going to a PGA golf event. Except your no where as close but if you do anything wrong or you are in the way they will let you know just like golfers do!

Wow, 5-8 boats. When we watched him at Grand Lake, there were 40-50 boats following him. Every time he moved it was like a shotgun start of a tournament.

Is anybody else having problems with the volume on the live weight in? Yes. Had to turn the volume all the way up and volume is just about right. Although while typing this message it has gotten a tad louder.

The Classic Champ will receive more than that in endorsements the following year(s) depending on their personality and marketability.

Is Mercer as irritating in person as he is on the live feed? Yes, he is a beat down to watch and listen to. I haven't seen a weigh in in years, I don't know who he is, I did enjoy Fish Fishburn, but this Mercer guy suxs.....

Ive been watching most of the day on espn3. Its amazing have far tv coverage and technology has come. I can see a day when they can have a camera in every boat.Bassmaster did a wonderful job today.......then the weigh in comes on and it's like a carnival sideshow. Why?

Guys, what's with the constant complaining about the traffic? #1 not one of you is driving fish back today from Conroe and #2 they're all aware of the traffic. Weigh in starting exact same time as it did from Guntersville and Grand. 1.5 drive. Who gives a rip. Watch the live, watch the weigh in, attend the Expo. Simple deal.
I for one can't wait for the Classic to be over so everyone can move on to griping about something else. Unreal.

I spectated yesterday and had a good time! Going ot hit the Expo on Sunday.
The first couple hours of the day Ike, Pirch, Takaori, Berkley boat and KVD were all within probably 50 yard of one another. I know some folks that would blow a gasket if people were fishing that close to them. LOL
I dont think Pirch moved all day. Talk about sticking to a game plan... I dont think he had a keeper until many hours into the day but worked it to the 5th spot.

It was a wild evening out here last night, not all that much rain but the wind was howling. Should be an interesting day, I think if the top of the LB decide to stay south it could give some guys heading up to the north end a chance to catch up.

Shad spawn. In the right place it can be lights out. Evers to 20# already. You can also go to your spot and they will not show up some days. It's about a 1 to 2hr max thing.

Crochet frogging in Wildwood Shores way up north. Ehler in between the islands in first jungle. Both have a pretty good sized area to fish.

I spent the day Friday on the lake spectating, it was my first classic, but not my first tourney. I spent all week on Conroe watching the practice and fishing for crappie. Now I am home because I have to attend a wedding this evening, (who would plan a wedding on classic weekend). Mostly I want to say: 1. I had a blast. 2. I fell in love with Lake Conroe, it is now my third favorite lake. 3. I have nothing to complain about. Everybody I met was very nice. I made some new friends at the condo. The pros I talked to were very nice. The weather was nice, a bit windy, but other than that, it was nice.
I just had a great week. Can't wait for Rayburn, I took another week of vacation.
