This makes complete sense. A small job still requires windshield time there and back.

If you want lower per sq foot, make the job larger. Chances are that will lower your per sq foot cost. Otherwise, you are paying top dollar for a small job.

Dan the prices are very high..

Im a retailer in Lubbock,so probably cant help with yours,You should be able to get a room like that done somewhere between 650-1000..Stay away from home depot and lowes for carpet projects..they are competitive on cash and carry, but not even in the game on installed goods, and cant you all the horror stories
i hear trying to get an installation done..

You need 28 sq yds.Depending on the quality you want.. I guarantee you can find a decent carpet and pad for somewhere between 20-30 per yd..$560-$840.I do pay my installers a min charge of 100.00 but even with that less than a thousand..

Find a small local retailer, and they can make it happen...message me if want need any suggestions..

I agree Radtexan, Im a dealer in Longview, my rep try do the "private dealer" specials sample program on me for price. the price Dan said is way to high 1400-1600, I have great 80 oz for that price all nylon, Im guessing my cost should be about 3.25 ft. Do you know a rep T & L name Wilson Leftwich, he from Lubbock .?

If its 4.48 a square foot at Lowes.
You have a 1400 square foot home.
1000 square foot is carpeted.
Then it would cost $4,480 to carpet your house.
There has to be a cheaper solution than carpet at that price.

Go wood. It's a lot easier to care for and clean. And it may be the only time you ever get wood. roflmao

I did a floating floor (pergo type - snap in) and it was pretty easy. We used a chop saw and were done in a couple of hours.

One room is probably the issue here. In 2008 I did 3 rooms with closets. About 500 SF total. Price was about $350 for labor. Install and haul away. I work for the world's largest flooring company so I bought carpet with my employee discount. I found some dude in Wylie through TFF. I would try just buying carpet and hiring someone.

Been thinking about what you said "small job still requires windshield time there and back". That's true. If it costs the company $100 for "there and back"; for a 200 square foot job, then it should cost $100 for a 2,000 square foot job (and vice versa). And actually, they would make more money for a small job as they could do several "small jobs" in one day, thus multiplying their income.

And, there is no need for making "the job larger". That's all that we need. The other rooms have already been re-carpeted.
