Trying to get quotes to replace carpet in one bedroom. I do not want the dealers to come here to give me a quote. I've contacted them through their on-line form or through their email listed on their webpage. Most will not answer either their on-line inquiry or their email. Many of their "email addresses" are not a good one and I receive a "not a valid email address" response.

I understand that any estimate I receive is just that "an estimate". After they arrive there may be a variation in the price due to any unforeseen issue but at least I'll have something to start with.

We know exactly what we want. We've received 3 estimates for the same carpet, same padding, same size. They are all over the board. ($1,638 ~~ $1,400 ~~ $1,960)

Go to home depot or lowes pick out what you want and get an estimate to install from them. You have got to be making this harder than it really is.

Lowe's didn't have the carpet we wanted but they had our second choice. Their price was $1,564.00.

If you hire Lowes, be prepared for 100 phone calls, before and after. I had them install a door...you would have thought I bought a rocket to take me to the moon.

Once you see how much sand and dirt is under that old carpet you will rethink new carpet. IMO.

hell what size is this one bedroom? That sounds like a lot for just a bedroom. The biggest scam nowadays is to sell carpet by the square foot when it used to be normal for it to be sold and installed for a per square yard basis.

At our old house I had Lowe's install carpet, it was something like $4 sqft for carpet, including pad and labor.

Yeah that should be closer to $900-1000 for decent carpet. Problem is companies don't want to do such a small job so costs go way up to make profit.
