They're shallow right now, especially in muddy coves. As shallow as a foot.

And wild man I know a diehard or two myself but it gets too dang cold for me at times during the year haha besides all the fish I enjoy the experience so I like to be comfortable but if the freezer gets low ... You can bet your last dollar where I'll be no matter the weather

But not knowing what's going to bite, how you decide what to use? Or is based on bait? Live bluegill for yellows with 10/0 and fresh gizzard shad for blues with 6/0... something like that?
Cause I catch plenty of blues on live bluegill as well

I go fishing with an old man and I've pretty much inherited most of the gear from him .There are about 25 hooks per line (depending if they have been cut short for one reason or another ) and some of the lines are the floating ones I don't really care for those I like the other ones . Perch for yellows and all kinds of things for blues we actually did very well on hotdogs one trip I thought he was just a crazy old man . So I shut up and listen now cuz old men know what there talking about . So either shad or hot dogs is how I personally would do it I like the hot dogs cuz there easy and fast to rebait got lots of lines to run that's the way to go .

Whenever I go bank fishing I have a line I made with 15 circle hooks that work pretty well for me. Wade out toss the cinder block and tie it on shore.
