If you're not on FB then you probably didn't see this series we published last year on Lone Star Chronicles about our return to the lower Pecos River. You may recall, we were flooded off the river in 2014 and lost all our things; these stories document the return and our attempt to finally complete the 60 mile trip. Hope you enjoy the stories...Bert Return to the Pecos 1. Decisions Click here Return to the Pecos 2. The Crew Click here Return to the Pecos 3. Onto the River Click here Return to the Pecos 4. Bert, those photos are on another level! I'm looking forward to the chance to fish a lot of our rivers back home. Great job out there!

That is some great work How hard would it be for a person who has never been there, to have a succesful trip? Succes being accomplish put in & take out, catch a few fish, & finding camping spots.
personally I would hire River Run, but just curious

That is some great work How hard would it be for a person who has never been there, to have a succesful trip? Succes being accomplish put in & take out, catch a few fish, & finding camping spots. personally I would hire River Run, but just curious This trip is somewhat painful on two levels, the first being that it's a physically demanding paddle with lots of potential for bumps and bruises along the way. How much of that really depends on your fitness level and your pain tolerance. The other, more troubling aspect that makes this trip difficult are the logistic considerations, and that can mostly be mitigated by a guide. Without knowing you (and your capabilities) personally, its hard to answer this question with certainty. One last thought, another important consideration for paddling this stretch of river is your paddling partners. Their experience (or lack thereof), fitness levels and hardiness can and likely will have an impact on your trip. This is true of all rivers but it's magnified on the lower Pecos due to its remoteness and lack of public take outs which forces paddlers to do the entire 60 mile stretch.

If I can do it, you can do it...as long as you're in halfway decent shape. The rest is just a mental game and that's winnable if it's something you really want to do. And you are right to want to paddle this river; it will change your life.
