In about a month, Lord willing, my wife and I will head to Charleston, SC for a week to visit family. I'm hoping that among all the sightseeing and such that I will be able to carve out at least a half day of fishing. I've never been to this area but gosh, there's a LOT of water around there!
,
A quick Google of guides, outfitters, etc. shows there are certainly plenty of resources, but it's not always easy to grok a guide's competence from a website.

So, I thought I would appeal to you members for any input you might have. If you've spent time on the water around Charleston and/or used a guide/outfitter that knew their stuff, I would appreciate any feedback.. I'm thinking inshore on a skiff for some of them "spot-tail" bass and false albies.

Thank you.

Check out the website called micro skiffs.com There is a fishing report by area. If you ask a question in that report area the folks are usually pretty good at sharing information and recommending guides if need be.
Tight lines!

I'm personal friends with Orvis endorsed, Capt. Tuck Scott out of Beaufort, SC. If you are into site casting to bull reds on mud flats, there is not a better guide. Very professional, super friendly and all around expert on the species and bodies of water. He's also a crack shot in upland bird hunting for the record.

Contact Info:

He runs his charter business out of a shop in downtown Beaufort called Bay Street Outfitters.

Feel free to tell him that Paul and Allen Smith referred you.

LOL!! I worked in the Orvis store here in Dallas for four years and hadn't even looked at their endorsed guides! They're usually competent guides, and I know the endorsement from Orvis is something they take seriously...and, they have to pay for it out of pocket.

I'll check out Tuck's website...that name even rings a bell. And I love stalking big tailing reds.

Thanks,

Paul
