Recently I have noticed that when not on plane, my steering works well. However, when on plane I cannot turn to the left, steering wheel just keeps turning but boat does not go left. I have less than 50 hours on the motor and noticed this after the jack plate had been lowered a bit. Does anyone have any idea what my problem could be and how to repair it?

Thanks

What steering system do you have?

To be honest with you I don't know. It is hydrolic steering. Whatever came original on the 2011 ZX 200 boats

If steering problem only occurred after lowering jack plate, very possible something got overlooked during that procedure. Call your dealer/person who did work and explain issue.

That is first sign of low oil in the hydraulic helm. Will need to bleed the steering system.

Thanks again for the advise, I believe that I will start by adding fluid to the helm. Does anyone know what the height of the motor should be on the manual jackplate? I understand most make sure the pad is level with the bottom of the boat.

Needed fluid in the steering unit, was told that it has been an issue with several Skeeter Boats that the seals are beginning to leak. If it happens again I was told to just add fluid or get the seals changed out.
Thanks for the replies.

The local skeeter mechanic said there has been an issue with the hydrolic steering seals with Skeeter Boats often. Shouldn't they have done a recall and change out the seals?

Seals to be replaced on HYDRAULIC steering.
