I've tried to order wine, but the web store wouldn't complete the checkout. I think it's illegal to deliver in Texas.

I was talking about getting it shipped.

Shipping from an out-of-state retailer is prohibited in Texas, but individuals may ship wine to Texas as long as the shipments are "non-commercial transactions."

Wonder how much longer that law will last.

My wife used to get it delivered from some online wine club deal. Neighbors wife still does, big boxes of it lol. They sometimes leave it here when they aren't home.

Club W was who she and neighbor used.

That law will last as long as the old baptists are alive (my parents included)

Given Amazon has multiple distribution centers in Texas and now pays sales tax here, I would guess they are no longer considered an "out-of-state retailer". If the state wanted to argue that they are, it would re-open the sales tax issue, which I doubt the state wants to do.

Amazon has third party sellers that are all over the world, so it might apply to those sellers and not Amazon proper.

True, but if it's one hour delivery, in Texas' metro areas it's likely a local distributor if not Amazon. But it will be interesting to see if Amazon pursues a beer/liquor/wine distribution license at some point. My guess is they will.

Yeah but when you're half way through a six pack and realize it's a whiskey night... sure is nice to call for a delivery.
