Will be interesting to see how it goes. Weather sounds like it is going to be wonderful. Not catching fish in the same places as before the cold front. They are also letting water out and it has gone down several inches in the last 10 days. I'll be checking.

I predict 8 pounds 3 ounces, to win. would love to see 9 pounds though. lotta one pound and one and a quarter fish on belton, with spurts of 1.65s and a rare 2.0 lb fish. Though this year is the nicest fish ive seen on belton. someone will find a pattern and get a mess of gooduns. with so much of the standing timber below the water line right now, fishing timber will be a challenge unless you already know its location.
COMING SOON! .. THE STICKLE HOOK " the stay level sickle hook". sits level in the water with all knots.! Provides better hook sets and more natural jigging motion. No more adjusting the knot, gluing , or tying loop knots that cause the hook point to tangle in the loop, or worse knick the line.. The jighook that will make all others obsolete !

Went to the weigh in. Results were great. Best 7 over 11 #s and another over 10. Best fish, I think, was 1.96. Local guys did well.

Went out with the family today, and didn't make it to the weight in unfortunately. All our fish were caught shallow, 1-3 fow. A lot of bass caught as well lol

Nice to meet you donothin, also roughneck 2000. Looks like the weather may hold to get the fish back on the march to shallow water. Males were beginning to move up again, after the cold nights last week.

Y'all have a fun lake down there! Might plan a family vacation there! Momma Wants to go to magnolia or something like that? It's probably some junk store or craft market! But if I can be slick and work in ripping some slabs that would be alright!!

Magnolia House in Waco. My sister and her family are coming down and want to go there! I've talked to a lot of people that have been there and they all say the same thing...it's like a pier1 imports store and they're not impressed, you won't see Joanne or Chip either. They mostly have stuff from market...and it's all really overpriced stuff too... It still might be fun, I just don't like to see people get their hopes up and then be disappointed...
Fly tier (yeah, I can fly fish...but the fish don't like frothy water!)

We had never been on Belton before Friday's prefishing, so we didn't know exactly what to expect. Luckily, the pattern ended up being fairly predictable. Fish were mostly in staging areas. I believe the previous week's cold front had pushed them back out a bit, and most were still there. I think the majority of fish were caught on laydowns, BPs, and timber in 8-20' water. Colors seemed to vary for some folks, but we did best on a pearl/chart combo.(JERRY'S JIGS - Grease Bath) We caught a lot of fish before 9am when the clouds were still thick. After that, it slowed to a fish here and a fish there. Pretty sure we caught 50+, and I don't remember any dinks under 10". LOTS of 1lb fish. We just couldn't find any kicker fish over 1.5lbs. Except for the one my parter lost. Still, we were proud of the 9lbs+ we caught. Belton is an absolutely BEAUTIFUL lake!!! It would be a great place for a multi day camping/fishing trip for sure!
